Crossrail 2 is a proposed new railway serving London and the wider South East. It would connect the National Rail networks in Surrey and Hertfordshire via new tunnels and stations between Wimbledon, Tottenham Hale and New Southgate, linking in with London Underground, London Overground, Crossrail 1, national and international rail services. In addition to adding capacity to the rail network, it would also support economic regeneration by providing infrastructure to support 200,000 new homes and 200,000 new jobs.
As part of this potential for economic regeneration, the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham (LBHF) wished to explore the viability of a new Crossrail 2 station at Imperial Wharf that would both stimulate growth on the South Fulham Riverside and create a new transport hub of connectivity.
Integra supported the LBHF in producing a study to develop a business case for an interchange (with WLL and Southern services) at Imperial Wharf station for Crossrail 2 between Clapham Junction and Victoria stations.
Integra's responsibility was to review station capacity and transport planning and estimate the transport benefits delivered by the Imperial Wharf option, compared to the base option.
This work required that journey time reduction benefits of the proposed new interchange at Imperial wharf, needed to be compared, to the current interchange options available.
