Project overview

HS1 is the high speed line from St Pancras to Eurotunnel interface at Folkestone. The line is 109km long and was built in two stages. Section 1 is between Fawkham Junction (in north Kent) to the Channel Tunnel. It was completed in September 2003. Section 2 is between Ebbsfleet (in Kent) to St Pancras. This section was completed in November 2007.

HS1 Ltd is the Asset Owner and holds the concession from the government to operate, manage and maintain the high-speed railway infrastructure until December 2040. The high-speed route is used by both international and domestic traffic.

Network (Highspeed) NR (HS) is the Operator and Maintainer of HS1. NR(HS) is the contractor responsible for maintaining and operating the railway infrastructure and three stations, St Pancras International, Startford International and Ebbsfleet International.

Our role

NR (HS) identified that the current data and telephony infrastructure is end of life and in need of replacement. Integra was appointed by NR(HS) to survey the current data and telephony infrastructure, produce survey reports, provide engineering specifications for the data and telephony networks and an estimate of the cost of replacement.

This involved engaging with HS1, the maintainer and other parties which may know about the current estate and conducting a number of surveys of equipment rooms, control rooms, sub stations, depots, third party huts, and any other locations required to capture first hand information and to review the general room condition along with spare space etc.
