Project overview

Integra were engaged by Morgan Sindall as a partner to tender for the Paddington to Bakerloo Line Link project for London Underground Ltd. The scheme was to create a passenger link between the Crossrail station at Paddington and the Bakerloo line platforms of London Underground through a combination of a passenger link tunnel and the use of lifts, escalators and travelators.

Our role

Integra provided input to reduce risks, reduce costs and reduce passenger journey time from Crossrail to London Underground. Our proposals included a new fire strategy and engineering services to minimise the use of fire doors. However in addition to the fire strategy we also provided buildability advice in respect of the installation of the new escalators and travelators to ensure the tunneling work created no settlement to the existing escalator structures permitting a more effective and less costly tunneling method to be employed. Furthermore we provided innovative design in terms of "smart" lighting to provide directional guidance to passengers traversing the link tunnel.
